Read more about Kristin's Call to Action
Kristin Resnansky believes in the power of leverage. That is why she committed a large donation to fund an Echoing Green Fellow if we can raise the balance through additional gifts.
This is Kristin's Call to Action.
Not only will your gift be matched, but it will also be subject to what we call the Echo Effect. Echoing Green Fellows raise an average of forty-four times our initial investment. It's a powerful combination of philanthropic leverage and critical seed funding to the best and brightest rising social entrepreneurs.
This Fund-A-Fellowship Campaign supports the mission of Echoing Green: to identify, fund, and support the best rising talent in social change, whose bold ideas have the potential to catalyze change in communities, cities, and nations.
Consider making your individual gift now (in whatever amount) and participate in the collective effort to fund a fellowship with Kristin!
Where are you from and what do you do for a living?
I am originally from Darien, Connecticut. After graduating from Darien High School, I went to the University of Virgina where I double majored in Economics and French. Other than 2 years spent at Stanford pursuing my MBA, I have been in New York since graduating from college. For the vast majority of my career, I have worked at Chilton Investment Company, a global investment management firm specializing in long/short equity investing. Currently, I am a senior analyst with investments in a wide variety of industries.
Why did you get involved with Echoing Green? How have you been involved?
I learned about Echoing Green in 2003 after reading David Bornstein's book, How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas. I had recently moved back to New York and was looking for an outlet for my interest in venture philanthropy and social entrepreneurship. I reached out to the staff at Echoing Green, and in 2004 we founded the Social Investment Council. I am currently the Co-Chair of the Social Investment Council and serve on Echoing Green's Development Committee. In addition, I have been a reader for the fellowship selection process for the last 5 years. Last year, I was a judge at Finals Weekend which was an incredible experience
What is your social change passion?
I firmly believe in the power of small, nimble, innovative organizations to cure the world's social ills. Every year I read Fellows' applications, I am amazed at the applicants' creativity and committment to social change. The challenge is to find these entrepreneurs and provide them with the platform they need to be successful. Echoing Green has an unparalleled track record for identifying innovative entrepreneurs with the passion, committment, and gumption to create sustainable social change organizations. Importantly, Echoing Green also provides a platform (in the form of skills development, operational support, and the unique network of Echoing Green alumni) to the Fellows which greatly increases their probability of success.
What is your favorite book?
It is nearly impossible for me to choose a single favorite book, but one of my favorites is Katharine Graham's Personal History.
