Personal Bio
Fadekemi Akinfaderin is a feminist activist with over eighteen years’ experience working with women’s and girls’ human rights organizations and movements in Africa. She co-founded Education as a Vaccine, one of Nigeria’s leading non-profits working to advance adolescent and young people’s health and rights, and served as the Executive Director until 2016. She is currently the Senior Program Officer and Africa representative with Prospera, a global hub of feminist-led philanthropic institutions that support women and girls’ human rights movements. Fadekemi served as an advisor to the Nigerian government in several capacities including to the Minister of Health’s Technical Advisory Committee on Adolescent and Young People’s Health and Development, the National Agency for Control of AIDS technical working group on HIV Prevention, and as a civil society organization (CSO) representative for the Nigerian delegation to the UN Commission on Population and Development.
Fadekemi has a BA from Wesleyan University and an MPH from Columbia University.
