Inspiring possibilities through philanthropy
Solange Bitol Hansen leads Echoing Green's principal gifts fundraising efforts, raising funds to increase resources and opportunities for social innovators.
Her early career as a lawyer representing children unable to access government benefits led to serving as counsel to Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), working on the 1996 landmark welfare reform law, updated reforms to the Campus Crime Statistics Act, and passage of HIPPA.
Solange also served as counsel for the national ACLU, the NAACP Washington Bureau, and SEIU International before her political fundraising successes led her to work on charitable gifts and estate for a community-based hospital and Brown University. She brings her interest in bold ideas and thriving communities to Echoing Green.
Outside work, Solange teaches a sewing machine class at her public library. She is the proud mom of a teenager, earning the hashtag #momonthego by driving to science research competitions and transporting his ¾ upright bass to his classical music gigs.
