We at Echoing Green appreciate the importance of your privacy and we are fully committed to the protection of your personal information.

This Privacy Policy describes how Echoing Green, Inc. (“Echoing Green,” “we,” or “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes information about you. This Privacy Policy applies to information Echoing Green collects when you access or use our website or other resources, such as to apply for our Fellowships or our social innovation ecosystem (e.g., our Signal Fund, our Invest in Black Leaders campaign, or our Racial Equity Philanthropic Fund), (collectively, our “Services”), or when you otherwise interact with us, such as when you contact us, including through social media, complete a survey, provide us with recommendations or advice, or interact with us at one of our live events. We may provide different or additional notices of our privacy practices for certain services or activities, in which case those notices will supplement or replace the disclosures in this Privacy Policy.

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy regularly to stay informed about our information practices and the choices available to you.

The information we collect about you depends on how you interact with us or use our Services. In this section, we describe the categories of information we collect and the sources of this information.

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information you provide directly to us. For example, we collect information directly from you when you create an account, you sign up to receive our newsletter, updates, or other information from us, submit or post content through our Services, communicate with us via third-party platforms, or otherwise communicate with us.   • Device and Usage Information: We collect information about how you access our Services, including data about the device and network you use, such as your hardware model, operating system version, IP address, unique device identifiers, and browser type. We use the categories of information we collect to process your application to become an Echoing Green Fellow, participate in an Echoing Green program, or work at Echoing Green. We also use the information we collect to:

  • Send you information about us, our Services, and our programs and events and otherwise communicate with you about news and information we think will interest you (see the Your Privacy Choices section below for information about how to opt out of these communications at any time);
  •  Process any donation or funding you make to Echoing Green and carry out fundraising activities;
  • Target advertisements to you on third-party platforms and websites (see the Your Privacy Choices section below for more information and to opt out);
  • Facilitate surveys, contests, sweepstakes, and promotions and process and deliver entries and rewards;
  •  Secure your attendance at any of our events that you wish to attend;
  • Obtain services from you;
  • Administer and protect our Services (including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, system maintenance, support, reporting, hosting of data, and sending you technical notices, security alerts, support messages, and other transactional or relationship messages);
  • Detect, investigate, and help prevent security incidents and other malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity and help protect the rights and property of Echoing Green and others; and
  • Comply with our legal and financial obligations.

TARGETED ADVERTISING AND ANALYTICS

We engage others to provide analytics services, serve advertisements, and perform related services across the web. These entities may use cookies, device identifiers, and other technologies to collect information about you and your use of our Services and other websites, such as your IP address, web browser, pages viewed, time spent on page, links clicked, and conversion information.   • For Marketing Purposes. We disclose information to third parties for their marketing and advertising purposes;
  • Application and Event Partners. We make information available to volunteers who help review applications such as evaluators and judges (such as the “Application Data” described above) and we also make information available to partners that help us host or manage events (such as a guest list).
  • Professional Advisors. We disclose information to our legal, financial, insurance, and other professional advisors where necessary to obtain advice or otherwise protect and manage our business interests;
  • Corporate Transactions. We disclose information about you in connection with, or during negotiations of certain corporate transactions, including the merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company;
  • Law Enforcement Authorities and Individuals Involved in Legal Proceedings. We disclose information in response to a request for information if we believe that disclosure is in accordance with, or required by, any applicable law, regulation, or legal process, including lawful requests by public authorities to meet national security or law enforcement requirements; and
  • To Protect the Rights of Echoing Green and Others. We disclose information if we believe that your actions are inconsistent with our agreements or policies, if we believe that you have violated the law, or if we believe it is necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of Echoing Green, our users, the public, or others.
  • The Public. We make certain information about our Fellows, such as names, photos, and quotes, available to the public through our website and social media channels.
  • Consent. We may make information about you available to third parties when we have your consent or you intentionally direct us to do so.
  • Mobile Device/User Information Exclusion. No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We also disclose aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

HOW WE MAY TRANSFER YOUR PERSONAL DATA INTERNATIONALLY

Echoing Green is based in the United States, and we and our service providers process and store personal information on servers located in the United States and other countries. Whenever we make restricted international transfers of personal data, we take steps to ensure that your personal data receives an adequate level of protection (by putting in place appropriate safeguards, such as contractual clauses) or that we can rely on an appropriate derogation under data protection laws.

Where relevant, you may request access to any safeguard which we use to transfer your personal information outside of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland (although we may need to redact data transfer agreements for reasons of commercial confidentiality).

  • To perform our responsibilities under our contract with you (e.g., to fulfill our requirements of any funding agreement, any contract to participate in one of our events, or any other contract we have with you).
  • When we have a legitimate interest in processing your personal data to operate our business or protect our interests (e.g., getting to know applicants to our Fellowship program and supporting successful applicants to help them achieve their visions; communicating with you; maintaining, managing, and improving our Services; etc.).
  • To comply with our legal obligations (e.g., obligations to verify your right to work lawfully for us; obligations to ensure that we process and account for any donations and funding in accordance with applicable laws, such as tax and anti-fraud/anti-corruption laws; obligations to ensure our Services comply with applicable laws, such as anti-fraud and data privacy laws; and any other legal obligations we may have under applicable laws).
  • When we have your consent to do so (e.g., when you opt in to receive marketing communications from us). When consent is the legal basis for our processing of your personal data, you may withdraw such consent at any time.
