New York, NY—April 2, 2024: Next week, nearly 1,000 social entrepreneurs, supporters, and industry leaders will gather for the annual Skoll World Forum. In advance of the Forum, the Skoll Foundation announced recipients of the 2024 Skoll Award for Social Innovation. We’re thrilled that an Echoing Green Fellow has been honored: Piyush Tewari ‘12, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SaveLIFE Foundation, is one of four influential leaders to receive $2 million in unrestricted funding and flexible support to scale their work and increase their impact.
“Piyush exemplifies what it means to be a proximate leader. He and his team at SaveLIFE leverage firsthand knowledge, experience, and insight to significantly reduce road accident deaths in India, saving hundreds of thousands of lives.” said Echoing Green President and Skoll Foundation Board Member, Cheryl L. Dorsey.
India grapples with the highest number of road accident deaths of any country in the world. SaveLIFE is markedly reducing traffic injuries and deaths with a systems-based approach that both improves road safety and boosts access to lifesaving emergency care. SaveLIFE is currently working with the Indian government to scale its solutions across the country and advocating for a new policy on the right to emergency care as the country expands its highway infrastructure.
