Aida Bekele
Vice President, Global Impact
Aida heads the Programs team and provides strategic leadership for Echoing Green’s programmatic work and impact.
Aida is a trisector leader with more than two decades of global experience advancing social innovation. She is dedicated to connecting purpose-driven talent with the resources and opportunities needed to tackle society’s most pressing challenges.
Most recently, she served as a consultant to social impact leaders, advising on strategy, organizational alignment, program priorities, and stakeholder engagement. Previously, Aida directly supported early-stage social entrepreneurs across Europe and Africa at Teach For All. She worked with local leaders to build and launch sustainable organizations that expanded educational opportunity.
As International Program Director of the Goldman Sachs Foundation, Aida designed educational programs across Europe and Asia to expand access and opportunities for young people. She helped launch the foundation’s first social entrepreneurship fund and served as Corporate Secretary to the Board of Trustees.
In her role as Chief of Staff for the Fund for Public Schools at the NYC Department of Education, she developed cross-sector partnerships to support systemic education reform. Aida began her career as a law clerk to Judge Baer in the Southern District of New York.
Born in Addis Ababa, Aida has lived and worked in New York, London, and Berlin. She holds a Master of Studies in Social Innovation from the University of Cambridge. She is a graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Law School and was selected as a Senior Leadership Fellow at Innovation for Equity. Aida is based in New York.
